Dr. John Hamilton serves as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategic Partnerships and Student Success Initiatives at the California State University Chancellor's Office.
Dr. Hamilton's impact has been transformative, leaving an indelible mark on both the institutions he has served and the lives of the students he has supported.
Dr. Hamilton played a pivotal role in the growth and success of the Guardian Scholars program, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to supporting current and former foster youth. His efforts extended to the Beach Pathways program, where he doubled its reach, encouraging applicants from communities with historically low college-going rates to pursue higher education through a holistic admissions approach.
Dr. Hamilton's leadership extended beyond Student Affairs. He co-chaired the President's Equity & Change Commission, contributing to a more inclusive campus environment. Additionally, as the co-chair of the Build an Equitable and Empowering Culture action zone of the Beach 2030 strategic plan, he played a key role in shaping the institution's long-term vision for equity and success.
Dr. Hamilton's legacy extends to the creation of the Black Alumni Scholarship Gala, a fundraising initiative that has raised over $200,000 in scholarships for students. This event stands as a testament to his vision of making higher education more accessible, positively impacting countless students on their academic journeys.
